Structural approach

 'How old' is a structure, which is being explained and drilled by teacher through question answer technique. 

Now try to answer the following questions:

* Does the teacher teach only one type of structure or more than one type?

 * Does the teacher give importance to the mastery.of structures or vocabulary? 

* What in your opinion is more important- mastery of structures or vocabulary? 

* Does teaching of structures need any knowledge of grammar of the language?

 The structural approach to the teaching of English is a technique by which students are taught to master the pattern of sentences. The stress is on the learning of essential 3neua structures of English. In the words of Menon and Patel: "The Structural Approach is based on the belief that in the learning of a foreign language, mastery of structures is more important than the acquisition of vocabulary."It involves systematic presentation and practice of carefully selected and graded grammatical structures of the target language in effective and meaningful situations. Speech is mainly stressed but reading and writing is not neglected. The primary tool here is the structure. So the teacher has to grade structure as per the need of the pupils on the principle of teachability and frequency of use. The structures should be carefully selected. The principle of selection must be having usefulness, simplicity and teachability in its view. The structural approach is not a method in the strict sense of the term. It is an approach, a technique, a device which can be used to put into practice any method successfully. According to Prof. B. D. Srivastava, "The structural approach is, in fact, the situational approach of language teaching"

The structural approach means the arrangement of words in such a way as to form a suitable pattern. The study of sentence patterns is crucial in the structural approach. The sentence patterns are organised around the verb (which is the most important part of speech). The student is taught how to divide a simple sentence into Subject and Predicate.

 'कितना पुराना' (How old )एक संरचना है, जिसे शिक्षक द्वारा प्रश्न उत्तर तकनीक के माध्यम से समझाया और ड्रिल किया जा रहा है।

 अब निम्नलिखित प्रश्नों के उत्तर देने का प्रयास करें:

 * क्या शिक्षक केवल एक प्रकार की संरचना या एक से अधिक प्रकार की संरचना पढ़ाता है?

 अंग्रेजी शिक्षण के लिए संरचनात्मक दृष्टिकोण एक ऐसी तकनीक है जिसके द्वारा छात्रों को वाक्यों के पैटर्न में महारत हासिल करना सिखाया जाता है।  अंग्रेजी की आवश्यक 3neua संरचनाओं को सीखने पर जोर दिया जाता है।  मेनन और पटेल के शब्दों में: "संरचनात्मक दृष्टिकोण इस विश्वास पर आधारित है कि एक विदेशी भाषा सीखने में, शब्दावली के अधिग्रहण की तुलना में संरचनाओं की महारत अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है।" इसमें सावधानीपूर्वक चयनित और वर्गीकृत की व्यवस्थित प्रस्तुति और अभ्यास शामिल है।  प्रभावी और सार्थक स्थितियों में लक्ष्य भाषा की व्याकरणिक संरचना।  वाणी पर मुख्य रूप से जोर दिया जाता है लेकिन पढ़ने-लिखने की उपेक्षा नहीं की जाती है।  यहां प्राथमिक उपकरण संरचना है।  इसलिए शिक्षक को शिक्षण योग्यता और उपयोग की आवृत्ति के सिद्धांत पर विद्यार्थियों की आवश्यकता के अनुसार संरचना को ग्रेड देना होगा।  संरचनाओं का चयन सावधानी से किया जाना चाहिए।  चयन के सिद्धांत में उपयोगिता, सरलता और शिक्षण योग्यता होनी चाहिए।  संरचनात्मक दृष्टिकोण शब्द के सख्त अर्थ में एक विधि नहीं है।  यह एक दृष्टिकोण, एक तकनीक, एक उपकरण है जिसका उपयोग किसी भी विधि को सफलतापूर्वक व्यवहार में लाने के लिए किया जा सकता है।  प्रो. बी.डी. श्रीवास्तव के अनुसार, "संरचनात्मक दृष्टिकोण, वास्तव में, भाषा शिक्षण का स्थितिजन्य दृष्टिकोण है"

 संरचनात्मक उपागम का अर्थ है शब्दों को इस प्रकार व्यवस्थित करना कि एक उपयुक्त प्रतिरूप का निर्माण हो।  संरचनात्मक दृष्टिकोण में वाक्य पैटर्न का अध्ययन महत्वपूर्ण है।  वाक्य पैटर्न क्रिया के चारों ओर व्यवस्थित होते हैं (जो भाषण का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है)।  छात्र को सिखाया जाता है कि कैसे एक साधारण वाक्य को विषय और विधेय में विभाजित किया जाए।
