Greeting is an act of communication in which human beings intentionally make their presence known to each other, to show attention to, and to suggest a type of relationship (usually cordial) or social status (formal or informal) between individuals or groups of people coming in contact with each other. Greetings are sometimes used just prior to a conversation or to greet in passing, such as on a sidewalk or trail. While greeting customs are highly culture- and situation-specific and may change within a culture depending on social status and relationship, they exist in all known human cultures.  Examples of greeting in a Sentence  * He addressed the members of the delegation with a formal greeting.  * the volunteer directed the conference participants towards the coffee after offering...

Participating in a dialogue/Conversation

When talking with someone, it is helpful to know what type of conversation you are in. You can do so based on a conversation's direction of communication (a one-way or two-way street) and its tone/purpose (competitive or cooperative)   If you are in a one-way conversation, you are talking at someone, rather than with someone. If you are in a two-way conversation, participants are both listening and talking. In a competitive conversation, people are more concerned about their own perspective, whereas in a cooperative conversation participants are interested in the perspective of everyone involved. Participating in conversations makes you a follower of the conversation without being involved as a recipient. You'll continue to get notifications when customer messages arrive and when staff replies go out. Participating is a great way for customer service team managers to stay involved in a conversation to help monitor response quality. You can also participate in conversatio...

This is the  syllable that receives the primary word stress. This means that, compared to the other ones, the vowel sound of that syllable will be slightly:  louder,  longer,  at a higher pitch. For example, the word chapter is stressed on the first syllable. Syllable

चित्र
https://youtu.be/gdaRQ2jVslM A syllable is a unit of sound. More specifically, it is a single segment of uninterrupted sound that is typically produced with a single pulse of air from the lungs. A syllable is made up of one or more letters with a  vowel  sound at its core. This does not necessarily mean that every syllable contains a vowel, but it will include a vowel sound when pronounced. For example, "rhythm," which has two syllables, does not contain any vowels, but it is said with two vowel sounds. Therefore, spelling is not a good indication of how many syllables a word has. The pronunciation of a word determines the number of syllables. Here are some examples that highlight this point: screeched, scratched, scrunched, stretched, straights, strengths (Despite being nine letters long, these are all one-syllable words.) shrugged (This one-syllable word contains the two-syllable word "rugged." It's a good reminder that the number of syllables is determined ...

Communicative Approach

Communicative language teaching makes use of real-life situations that necessitate communication. The teacher sets up a situation that students are likely to encounter in real life. Unlike the audio-lingual method of language teaching, which relies on repetition and drills, the communicative approach can leave students in suspense as to the outcome of a class exercise, which will vary according to their rep. The real- life situations change from time to time as students' motivation to learn comes from their desire to communicate in meaningful ways about meaningful topics. Margie S. Barns, an expert in the field of communicative language teaching writes in explaining Firth's view that "language is interaction; it is interpersonal activity and has a clear relationship with society. In this light, language study has to look at the use ( function) of language in context, both its linguistic context and its social or situational context."  Characteristics of Communic ativ...

Cognitive Approach

Cognition refers to mental activity including thinking, remembering, learning and using language. When we apply a cognitive approach to learning and teaching, we focus on the understanding of information and concepts. If we are able to understand the connections between concepts, break down information and rebuild with logical connections, then our rention of material and understanding will increase.  When we are aware of these mental actions, monitor them and control our learning processes it is called metacognition. Other psychological approaches focus on different components of humanactivity. Behaviorists focuson the examination and analysis of objectively observable and quantifiable behaviorial events.  Those who favor the humantistic approach focus on the individual in relation to their own environment. Human welfare, values, and dignity are major components of this theory.                       संज्...
