                      TYPES OF REPORTS

Types of reports includes memps, minutes, lab reports, book reports, progress reports, justification reports, compliance reports, annual reports, and policies and procedures.

Formal Report-Formal report is the report form as commonly pused in a professional setting. This format involves a litte page, a table of contents and a series of sections contained within that present information. This formal report often has an introduction section, which introduce the subject matter to the reader and explains why it is relevant. Following the intro is typically, a topic overview or abstract, which provides a look into the background of the subject considerations to be taken, previous works or reports that are relevant and other information. The body of the formal report will vary depending on the subject matter and the author's organisation of content, but will typically include relevant informan and analysis, After the report's body, there is a conclusion section, followed by a reference section which the author lists his sources. Information Abstract- abstract is often included in formal report, but they are not components of the report itself, and should be considered as a seperate report of their own. It often describes purpose of the report, additional contributors and any other specifie direction for the reader. The informative abstract in a self contained synopir of the formal report that does not make specific references to it but concisely describes the basic content.

Technical Report-A technical report is used in a scientific or engineering context, and is structurally similar to a formal report. However. technical reports differ from formal reports. They often contain a greater amount of figures and technical terms as a result, and are written in more passive voice than other formal reports. A technical report typically begins with a title page and includes a letter of transmittal and informative abstract. The report's body begins with an introduction, followed by a theoretical discussion or a problem discussion, which presents the problem that the report is responding to, or the theory that the report is proposing. The results section is followed by a conclusion section which presents an analysis of the results.

Report Forms-A great deal of repetitive reporting is done on forms that are designed to record the required information in a convenient way. For example, when you complete your tax return, you written a form report. If you fill in a time sheet or attendance register, you are completing a form report. The technician records the hours spent working for each client. Each week, the accountant uses these forms how much time/labour to bill the client for services.

The Progress Report-If a project continues over several months, progress reports may be required regularly. Progress reports can by as short as a single paragraph or as long as 50+pages depending on the job. Regardless of size, the progress report answers four basic questions-

Will the project be completed on schedule?

 What progress has been made?

Are there any problems to report ?

What do you expect to happen in the next reporting period ?

A progress report in letter format follows. Using letter format usually means the report will circulate outside your organisation. For more about reports, consult a technical writing text-book.

The Research Report-A research report can be presented in either a formal or informal format.

Regular Reports-These are prepared by establishments on daily, weekly, quarterly, monthly, biannually or annually to present information about sales, income, credit, status or company's performance.

Special Purpose Reports-Also known as formal reports.

News Reports-These are written generally on the matters of public interest, events and happenings etc. News reports can be classified into two broad types-Straight news report and Investigative report. So former is the systematic representation of what has happened, in a straight forward, factual plain way. The report neither draws any conclusion nor offers any opinion here. The latter is in depth report. It discusses every minute details of the issue and reflects investigative journalism.
